The insoles are lined with Merino wool which generates dry heat and controls the temperature getting to the skin. In addition, it acts as a great insulator both from cold and damp.

These special insoles are composed of three layers. On the top, there is a layer of Merino wool that is extremely warm, antibacterial and great at temperature control. In the centre, there is a layer of insulating foam which also helps prevent cold getting trough and makes for a more comfortable step. At the bottom, there is a layer of special aluminium foil which prevents moisture getting through, thus helping the feet stay warm. Merino wool is known for its softness and warmth. While these thermal insoles are perfect for winter shoes, they are also great for shoes worn in the summer or at work. Because they are so breathable, they really are suitable for all kinds of shoes, as wool warms you up in winter and cools you down in summer. The insoles can be trimmed to shape, which means you can also use them in children’s shoes.

When maintaining your shoes, you also need to think about the insole. It absorbs sweat from the feet, as well as external moisture, so whenever we sweat or get wet in our shoes, we must remove the insoles and let them dry well. This prevents odour and, especially with insoles that are glued together from multiple layers, also extends the life of the insole.

I bought two pairs for myself last year. One to go with an older pair of boots that I will probably be able to wear for a few years, even though the leather of the boots was already worn down. However, I fixed that with new insoles, and the boots are as good as new again. I bought another pair for myself this year, this time for more winter boots, plus a pair for my husband for Christmas. These inserts make me feel like I'm walking in slippers, even in my massive winter boots. They soften the tread, keep my feet wonderfully warm, and feel like a bedroom.
